Expensive boondocking
By user-5839437... on 2017-10-23.
It is $27 to boondock here. There are very few sites close to level. You have to drive to the shower facilities. We came on a Thursday with our three kids. We bought tickets for Cliff Palace Saturday but we could not go on the tour in the rain because of our baby. The ranger in the museum refused to exchange our ticket on Sunday when the weather was nice. Beware, they just want your money.

Great campground
By user-6361503... on 2017-10-23.
Dry camped and found the bathrooms really clean, had to drive to the free showers but they were excellent with lots of hot water.
Only paid $16 but with oldies discount, would have felt different if I had paid $27 for no hookup

Great place to camp
By user-5857160... on 2017-10-23.
Sure, $27 a night is high for no hook ups. But if you want to camp inside this beautiful National Park and be close to all it has to offer, then it's worth it. The gift shop is nice, the showers are free, and there is food available. My only complaint is that the park is really spread out so there is a lot of driving involved.

Bit expensive at $27 to Boondock. Few level pads. Good views tho. Deer wandered through camping area.

Plain sites, had trouble getting level. Clean and quiet. Mule deer!

Beautifull night skys
By user-5799054... on 2017-10-23.
Nice campgroud. Stayed with a 33 ft RV. Hookups are available but mostly reserved. Losts of pits but few are level.
The sunset walk to Knife Edge Trail is a must!
There are 2 dump stations with potable water available (no screw on connection, you can ask at the general store they will help you wit a tap near Knife Edge Store to get water). Frendly people.

Full hookups
By user-6037595... on 2017-10-23.
Not sure about the boondock reviews. Our site had power and water and we discovered the sewer hookup the 2nd night (hidden in the bushes). So reservations for full hookups a good idea. Deer in the morning, evening and while driving in the area (be careful). Gravel / dirt sites. Nasty, sticky mud in the rain. Showers at the store were "okay". Recommend a car or a rental from Cortez if you want to see most of the park.

Sleep with the Ancients

Beautiful spot in fantastic Mesa Verde. Full hookups are booked well in advance, so expect to dry camp. Bathrooms are in each loop, but there are hot showers, a laundry, and place for hot breakfasts at the campground HQ. You will need to drive your truck or car to the ruins, or take a tour. Check out park amenities online for opening dates and options. We had wanted to visit for place for years so dry camping was expected. This is a magical place.

Great Place
By user-5861197... on 2019-08-09.
We lucked on to 5 nights of full hookups, and 5 nights of dry camping. I put the dates wrong: it was 9/26 - 10/8/ 2018
The main thing is the location: just amazing to be there. Long drives to any of the sites, and totally worth it. Went on some tours twice. Hiked a number of areas, all just fascinating and beautiful in their own way.
This is an archaeological park with plenty of restrictions for where you can walk and what you can touch. It's all so amazing that the restrictions don't really seem like a limitation just a sensible way to protect something ever so special.
