A delightful state park near the confluence of the Madison, Jefferson, and Gallatin Rivers form to make the Missouri River. The park has some easy hiking trails providing plenty of information about the area and its history. In terms of camping, there are just 17 sites, no electricity but water and a dump station are available. There are "pit" (vault) toilets that are spotless and smelled of cinnamon. (A trade secret of the camp hosts were were told.) There is an abundance of bird life to wake you in the morning and access to fishing in each of the three rivers. The town of Three Forks is several miles away but is easily reached by vehicle or on a bike path. A great overnight or extended stay location.
