Reviews for Monterey County Fairgrounds

| Close to golf & airport

By user-5306298... on 2017-10-23.

Stayed here 5/15. The two other items you should know is the rv park is right next to a golf course so there is a possiblity of a golf ball hitting your vehicles, (hit our neighbors a/c cover and broke it). It's also at the end of an airport runway so you will have some plane noise. The noise was not a problem for us though.

the RV park located behind horse stables in the fairgrounds. there is not alot of RV camps around Monterey so this location. is good. you take a taxi to the city center or aquarium for 15$. thats the good part. the bad no grass no fire pits, just a parking lot with hook up for RV. specious.

| Dirt Paddock

Don't even think about it... The upper park, while paved... Looked like a parking lot. Terribly unlevel. The lower part is a dirt paddock. Looks like an old horse arena. In fact it was not really dirt. It was like 4 inch deep dust. TERRIBLE. Go someplace else. Was here for three nights... I would have left it was for any longer. Just had my RV washed too. Ugh.

| Not terrible

My sister, mom, and I were here this past week for my graduation trip. This place was great for its price. Only complaints we really had was that it was next to the airport (even though it really wasn't that bad anyway) and in our spot (#17) the outlet for our power was upside down! Not a really big deal. It was just sort of problematic with our surge protector. We fixed it with a bungee cord! Other than that, if you're not planning to stay for very long, I'd recommend it. It's quiet and close to the aquarium.

| Just a parking lot

It is just a parking lot but well situated to visit Monterey. We get to downtown easily with bikes. The personal is friendly so it's a good solution for short stay.

See all the other reviews, all true. I would like to add: the showers took a long time to get hot water, then it was fine. When we stayed it was quiet, so lots of room around the RV.

Typical fairground parking on a blacktop lot. Our site was a back in with full hook ups! We did have to park our truck on the lower level! This RV park was easy to get in and out and conveniently located to the area attractions. We were here for 4 nights and would stay here again!

Built ii the 30s so sites are tight for larger rvs with slides. Sites share hook ups so you need lots of sewer hose if you get a site with hook ups on the right. Good location for visiting Monterey.

Upper part of campground is paved parking area with a substantial downslope away from the airport. Class A and C vehicles are propped up on as many as 4 or 5 pieces of 2x8 lumber on the downhill side. The lower area is a modified horse corral with wood chips on the ground to reduce dust. The hookups are shared, so bring extra lengths of water and sewer hose in case you are the one stretching to hook up on your passenger side. This configuration contributes to the tightness of the sites, with slides very close to touching and no room for awnings. The lower lot is adjacent to a gravel and sand distribution business, so from 7 am to 7 pm you are next to a near constant racket from dump trucks being loaded or emptied and the large front end loader loudly beeping as it rides in reverse. Tolerable for short visit, intolerable after 3 days.

| Très bien placé

Accueil et cadre sympa malgré que ce ne soit qu’un parking. Quelques avions passent mais cela ne dérange pas trop.

| Perfect for us

We were here for a family reunion on a very busy weekend. Yes it is a black topped parking lot. However, where else are you going to stay in Monterey for only $50? That being said, we had a great site. It was double wide and we had our slides, awnings, picnic table and chairs all set up. Our site was long enough that we could put out our patio and sit and watch them golf- the patio makes our 5th wheel 48 feet long. Yes you have to park your vehicle in a lower parking lot - maybe 50 yards away. Bathrooms and showers, per my sister, were clean. I liked the security of a locked gate at night and guard during the day. You get a code to come and go as you please. Overall great place to stay.

Super nice people, easy access, hot shower. Bring leveling blocks and proper hoses.

We spent the night in space 16. Plenty of room for our 25' RV with a slide out. It was a backing spot, on the blacktop. We were level but we noticed others were using 2-3 block to get level. We used our longer sewer connection since it had to connect behind the RV. It was a nice price of $55,per night on a Saturday.
