Reviews for Mountain Home AFB Family Camp

| Nice stop

The pictures are very representative of the park. They don't take reservations so you are going to be driving 12 miles off of the interstate on a hope and a prayer. By the way, you can get through the main gate if your trailer or motor home isn't too huge (one review on another site said you couldn't get through), otherwise use the truck entrance before 4:30. I suppose the gate guards would figure out a way in for you if you are late. We arrived at 5:00 and got the second to the last spot. But if you are self contained there is plenty of overflow spots where you can back into the grass for a night, then grab a spot the next morning if you plan to stay longer. Full hook ups are $15, campers pay $8 I think, and you can just pull into the grass for $8. Full service spots with pavement (most) have nice grass, table and grill. A few are still gravel and the grass is pretty dry and weedy (still OK though). Nice shade. The one and only restroom building at the park entrance, near the tent area, is the cleanest I have ever seen! The day we were there you could eat off of the floor as they say. The showers were excellent. We did not meet the camp hosts but they get five stars! Also there are newer washers/dryers in the building. Tons of off leash dog walking areas as well as a nice fenced dog park over by the base gym (easy walking distance). Very quiet place! PS: Tent campers all have covered picnic table areas and grills if I remember right, next to their tent spots.

$15 first come first serve, using iron ranger drop box kiosk. Walking distance (3-5 blocks) to exchange, commissary, gym, bowling alley w/cafe, library, Burger King. Enjoy the sound of freedom of fighter jets. Bathrooms are immaculate.
