We rolled through Slade on Memorial Day weekend and everyone in the area was booked up in three day blocks. There wasn’t even a tent site available in the state park. Phone reception was bad in the park so we stopped at the rest area just outside to use this app and see what was around us. It turns out this campground was directly behind the rest area, just out of sight because the trees. They didn’t have any sites left with electric but found a couple places where we could fit our little van in and plug-in. However, we are self-sufficient and choose a small tent site in the primitive area alongside the stream. On the western border of the property we got shade first as the sun went down. There were only four bathroom stalls in one building and for showers in another. There were a lot of people there and some of them sloppier than others so they were well used and keeping them clean was a full-time job, I’m sure. I imagine the facilities will be more welcoming when it’s not a holiday weekend. The folks running the place were super nice, and worked hard to fit us in, and in the end only charged us $20 because they couldn’t offer us the hookups we asked for. 4 stars only because other campers were sloppy and the showers were overused. Look forward to staying here again when it’s not a holiday. Thanks much, you really hooked us up in a pinch.
