| Quiet, spacious camping at it's best.

If you are looking for a quiet tree covered place with spacious camping where your closest neighbor is a hundred feet away this is it. Open Pond is a low key campground with honor system pay at the entrance to the park. It has a nice size fishing lake with docks for fishing and electric motor boats allowed. One side of the lake has a picnic area with an open air pavilion and picnic tables. The other side has both wooded and lakeside campsites. Some campsites have concrete pads and some have gravel pads. Some sites are secluded on three sides by woods. There is a two mile hiking trail around the lake that takes you thru the woods, the picnic area and along the lake on the west side. The sites have fire pits, picnic tables, water and electricity but no sewer. A nicely paved dump station is located near the entrance to the park. This is a first come first serve park. There is no attendant to take your money at the entrance so you have to find a spot that is open then go back to the entrance and fill out an envelope with your site number and payment and deposit in a lock box. In September of 2016 the rate was $16.00. If you have an America The Beautiful pass the rate was $12.00. Camp hosts do come around and check the sites daily. The park was clean and well maintained. There are multiple bath houses in the park with large showers. The showers have timed push button water faucets that last about 20 to 30 seconds before needing to be pushed again. This is a great semi primitive campground with no facilities other than campsites and bath houses. Highly recommended.
