This was the only campground that had an open spot for one night in the Ashville area so we jumped on it, we were tired! We were even more tired when we finally found this place. Lots of winding narrow roads, thought we were lost but finally came upon a sign. Very nice people all around us, but I would suggest that the permanent campers hold on to their dogs while new people come in. There was a 100# dog that greeted us (the welcome wagon) he was very friendly BUT, to a non dog lover, his barking would have scared them. ANYWAY, we were thankful to find an open spot and I'm sure this is a great place in the summer, we came late and are leaving early, not sure how to get out of here cuz the back gate is locked.
Ahhh so wonderfully surprised by our time with the kids in Orchard Lake!! My family and I have been road tripping the US for the past 9 months [17 states so far] and have stayed a lot of places... this one was one of the most naturally beautiful with tons going on! We were making our way to Asheville and randomly decided to stop over here for a night to break up the drive. The kids [and I] had so much fun upon our arrival we extended the stay. There s a beautiful lake for swimming & fishing with slides and swim docks. They have kayaks and boats you can paddle out in, zip line, frisbee golf course tucked away in the woods, golf chipping green, badminton, shuffleboard, little skate ramps n rails for skateboarding [everything free of charge]. There were tons of kids and the vibe here is so good. We could just let the kids run n play without worry. A really wonderful family campground. If you are looking for a place the fam will love do yourself a favor and stay a day or week. You ll be back! As will we :)
