OK - nothing fantastic

I was a bit disappointed, even for a state park. Road through camp sites is very narrow and sites can be hard to back into. A lot of lush growth with the trees, but that is to be expected. We were right near the river - could smell it - but not see it. We only stayed one night on our way further south. Probably wouldn't stay there again. I did get dressed down by one of the park rangers as I was blocking traffic while unhooking my jeep and parking my RV, kept asking me if I was going to park my jeep in the overflow spot, I kept telling him as soon as I was parked I would move the jeep.

On The Water....NOT!!

When we checked in the agent told us our spot was "on the water". What a joke! There was a creek behind our space but it can not be seen because every place is an over grown, tangled mess! And there was no way to get to it from our space. The whole campground was that way. It felt like something could slither out of that creek & you would never see it coming. I rated it 2 stars because even though it was in town it was fairly quiet.

Just stayed there for 6 days and loved it. Nice wooded sites and just 5 miles to the gulf beaches.
No sewer hookup, and some of the sites share water, so take enough water hose. We needed 5o ft. Of water hose. Can't wait to go back.
Close to Walmart and Publix.

We have stayed here for 6 weeks (2 weeks at a time) every year the past 5 years. Connected to bike path, close to beach. Sites are large and usually you can't see any other RVs. Electric and water but no sewer may be a problem for some.

Great CAMPGROUND

Yes, this place has a ton of growth, but it's a State Park. I actually really enjoyed all of the growth as it made it our own personal, private campground. Level sites. Super friendly staff, very quite, super clean facilities. Great bike trails close. We biked on the rails to trails path. Close to Walmart and restaurants. We too booked a site close to the creek, but couldn't see or here it. There are some sites that you can actually walk down to the creek. If you're looking for something not "too overgrown" go to one of them "fancy Florida RV resorts". We will definitely be back!!

Not big rig friendly

This park is not at all big rig friendly because it was built in the fifties don't even attempt to bring a big rig in here. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Sehr schöner, sehr ruhiger RV Park, mit sehr guten Sanitäreinrichtungen. Die Rangers sehr freundlich un hilfsbereit. Nur wenige Miles von wunderschönem Strand in Nokomis entfernt. Man kann auch in dem kleinen See direkt am Campingplatz baden. Gute WiFi Verbindung.

Great proximity to the beaches!

We stayed for 2 weeks at Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, Florida, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our favorite part was that it was such a short driving distance from our campsite to some very good beaches: 11 minutes to Nokomis, 15 to Venice, and 22 to Siesta Key. The park will be closing from May 2019 to November 2019 in order to replace an old bridge that you must drive across in order to get to the campground. In the meantime, that bridge is a little nerve wracking. There was debit card operated laundry, clean showers and tons of wildlife. CoxFamilyTravels

Stayed a week in our 30 ft. Motor home. Wildlife and programs are great. Very interesting ranger and volunteer walks. Campsites are clean and privacy is good. Two great horned owls fly from their nest every night @ 6pm.

We spent Easter Weekend here. What a beautiful area. We camped near the eagle viewing area in the corner. It was quiet and secluded. We walked the trails around the lake. It was like we had the place to ourselves. Rangers are friendly and accommodating. The nature center is informative and the volunteers keep it up to date.
