Late September weekday is very quiet with many level sites. Weekends very busy with people arriving after dark. Only one bathhouse that somehow absorbed the crowd with few lines. Perhaps weekend only guests shower when they get home. Temperature dropped to the 50's so much campfire smoke. Trails down to the Patapsco river on the valley floor are moderately steep. Park trail map unreliable. Must cross active train track to reach river.
The road to the campground is very steep and winding, campground is old, the road through it is narrow with sharp turns. I watched one camper get repeatedly stuck, wouldn't try it with a big rig.. I have a tiny camper and even for me it was tricky. Do NOT take site 25 by the bathroom, it's awful, so close the door slamming will shake your rig. You can hear the flushing yay. Tried to move sites, no go. Weekends are super busy & crowded with young tent campers. $31 for electric only, dump station in middle of park very old & inconvenient and nowhere near the fresh water spigot. But it's pretty much your only option near Baltimore.
