Paul B is that one hidden secret that is easy to get to and once you're in there its really quiet, laid-back, nice sites that overlook the lake and and the price is excellent!
Full hook ups for only $20 a night. The park is clean and well maintained. The camp sites are mostly level with a picnic table and a grill. There are enough trees for shade but not too many. The bath houses were clean but they could use a little maintenance. Many of the campsites have a view of the lake. There is a lot to do at the park. The pull through sites aren't as nice as the other sites. They are close together and don't have as much shade. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Took my 11 year old granddaughter to Paul B Johnson had a great week with a spectacular view of the lake she enjoyed going to the beach swimming in the lake fishing was very slow didn't catch a thing found out the best bait to use was cut strips of bacon and fish around sundown overall hello beautiful beautiful time I will be back
Paul B. is a great weekend getaway, nice sites, easy access, large lake for boating, fishing, skiing. Water play pad for the kids, not far about a hour from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Books up fast during summer time,
This is one of my favorite parks. Lots of color in the fall. Plenty to keep you busy if you're an outdoor person. Golf cart friendly and a lot of roads to roam. I have a hard time leaving and can't wait to go back.
One of the best places to camp in south Mississippi! Very nice well kept park!
Full hook up, 50 amps, level concrete pad, who could ask for more? Very quiet during the week. Looks like good fishing. Great sun sets and rises. Staff friendly and helpful. TV over the air with limited success but who cares? Highly recommend the park.
We were a quick in and out, and arrived late at night. The park attendant found us driving in, stopped and told us where I site was and helped us get situated. When we woke up in the morning it was such a pleasant surprise to see a very nice park. Our two grandsons played while we got everything ready and off we went. We would stay there again. Headed back to Arkansas. Very nice park attendants.
Full hookups for $17 a day with senior pass. The loops with back-in sites have lake access. Many sites with shade. Very nice lake, quiet and clean campground...Lakeside sites are full price(no senior discount). We did not like the pull thru sites(too close together and no shade). Good call and TV reception.
Great views with lake access. Quiet and peaceful parknewell maintained. Would definitely stay again! Absolutely beautiful. the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Nice flat cement pads for pull-throughs with a partial view of the lake. Gorgeous grounds, trees, very peaceful. Best overnight spot we ve stayed in; we d camp here longer if we had the time. Senior rate (65+) is only $16 plus tax-for full hookups!
What a wonderful park, absolutely beautiful! Friendly staff, gorgeous lake, lots of space between sites. Didn't receive 5 stars because they failed to provide a discount for us, since we were evacuees from Hurricane Michael in Florida, like other parks in neighboring states. We departed 1 day early, since we didn't know how long we would need to be there and we understood that we couldn't receive a refund, but thought that a voucher for a free night within the next year, would have been reasonable, but management refused. Also, the bathhouse nearby was closed due to maintenance issues and the other one was not very close, which made it challenging for our 85yr old family member, nor was it cleaned regularly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would certainly return if we're in the area!
What a kind and friendly campsite! From the staff to the well manicured sights, we look forward to returning to this awesome park! No Wifi right now, but with enough leaving written requests, they hope to gain Wifi soon! Next time, we will stay an extra day, and try out the hiking trails on the grounds!
Beautiful Park. You drive over the lake spillway when you come in on Geiger Lake Road. We accidentally came in on Tower Road but I would not recommend this way. It is narrow and you go across a couple of small bridges. The park is very close to Highway 49 which is a four-lane Highway. We heard car noise.
So good. Sites were beautiful, tons to pick from. Bathrooms had hand soap, TP, & paper towels! Staff was super friendly.
I've wrote a review for this place a few years ago, here this first week of March 2019 Paul B. Johnson has started to make a bad impression on me and my family. We have 4 sites in the second loop and out of 4 sites only only has both benches on the picnic table and and only one site has a grill. Our site (45) had a grill last year but its gone now. The ground has washed away from the pads leaving a big step down, it would be easy to roll an ankle. The hookup are in bad shape with rotten wood and most of the sewer pipes are cracked so a proper connection is impossible. Patches in the roads are rough. The place is a pretty and the sites are mostly always full I dont see why the State isn't putting any money the park makes back into the park. It has so much potential.
This is a beautiful state park, nice lake, full hookups and almost completely empty while we where here. Some of the sites arent completely level but still nice.
What a gem! We only intended on staying one night, but stayed two. Senior citizen rate was $17.12 per night for full hookups and a concrete pad. This is a spacious, well-kept park. Lots of opportunity for bicycling, walking and enjoying the place. We had a pull-through site (#89) near the welcome center. Next time I would try to get nearer the water as there are many sites that would accommodate our 36' motorhome. Couldn't have been happier with our stay.
MS needs to put some money into their parks - badly in need of maintenance. Typical overused lake park needs work. Park has pull-through full hook-up sites, good for overnight, but pads need gravel around them (concrete sits high off the ground) and mowing & weed-eating around the pads. No bathhouse in this area. Must unhook to drive to bathhouse. Can use restroom in office - extremely run down - nice visitor center needs some love. Staff are in dire need of better mgmt.
A bit off the highway for an overnight visit but worth the drive. Finding the location to check-in required asking but once there, they were very efficient. The park is large with over 100 RV sites, plus cabins. It s a boating lake but there is a beach and the water was warm.
