Reviews for Pecan Grove RV Park

| Stay away

We tried to stay here in a MH towing. The park does not have paved roads or pads, in fact when we were there it has rained the day before and the roads were just plain MUD. We had a reservation for a pull thru (all their sites are pull thru) made 2 days earlier which the office could not find so they assigned a site for us. We were directed to that site via a muddy path with a 90 degree turn that could not be negotiated due to a parked MH with wood frame additions so I had to disconnect my toad and back up. Once disconnected I had to go through deep mud and barely got out, only to find that the site had a plastic bag over the pedestal. We were then directed to a second site that was occupied by a boat and truck, the office had no idea who owned it they sent us to a 3rd site. There we found the site occupied by a 5th wheel from California that appeared to have been there for weeks. It was obvious that park staff does not know what they have in their park, 3 strikes, we were out of there! The only thing that went well was the refund, they had processed our payment on an old credit card slip, so they gave me back their copy and we were on our way. I would go out of my way to not stay at this park again.

This is an easy site to get in and out of. Quite and clean. Will stay again when in this area.

One night stop along the Great River Road. Last time we were in this area we stayed at the nearby state park which apart from very rough roads was better value. This park is close to the road and there's a lot of truck traffic. $30 rate was with the Good Sam discount.

| Fishing stop

For the last 16 years we have stopped here on our way to Talladega for the race. We like the fishing pier on lake Chico they have, have caught many catfish and large perch here. Some highway noise but not too bad. Road are gravel and it does rain here sometimes but no big deal. Lots of permanent rigs but the have 40 or so spaces for the travelers. Always have nice interactions with folks working here, very helpful. Good stop for a day or a week, bring your pole and worms!

| OK for 1 night stay.

We arrived at this park 5 days after a pretty big rainstorm, and found all the "graveled" roads and pads, basically just mud. Most sites were occupied by older, full-timer rv's, and boats and trailers scattered about the park. We had made a reservation for 2 nights by phone, and went to the office to say "Hello", but it was locked and nobody in sight. It was 1:45 in the afternoon, and nobody ever returned to the office that day. Note on door said to pick a spot, and put payment in box, which we did. However, we called management (voicemail only) and cancelled the second night. Site was OK, but about 100 yards from very busy truck route noise all night. Park needs new gravel put down on all the roads, before I would ever stay again.
