| Beautiful park.
This park has a wonderful tranquility. We love the east Texas pineywoods. Recommend it for the weary traveler.
| What a PAIN to find - get some signs out in the highway!
We stayed at rocky point (same campground as piney point COE / just a different section) and let me say we showed up after dark only because we searched for an hour and a half for this park. PLEASE COE get a couple signs out there on highway 59!!!!!!!! We found the picnic area, public boat launch -- but, where the heck was the park? So frustrating, to say the least. Once in the park (another nightmare because out of 3 host families - no one was on duty at 9:15 (official closing of entrance is 9) -- a good camper Samaritan let us in .... What to do for the after hours camper is non-existent. How about a sign with a phone number to call if no host family is gonna hang in the park to let you in? The park itself is fairly pretty and well maintained. And especially since it was Labor Day weekend - I would think there would be people manning the ranger shack. We also experienced a power failure of the electrical grid for the entire region -- 100 degrees and no AC makes for a miserable day .... Thankfully, is was only for about 10 hours - of course, during the afternoon. Doubt we will return.
