Reviews for Pismo State Beach - Oceano Campground

| Good vibe in May

Four stars because only water and electricity, although a free dumpsite is included down the road. Pull through sites are convenient. Walk to beach is nice. Good neighbors. Private bathrooms and showers are kept clean. Sinks with hot water for doing dishes. I spent two nights. Only moved to another park because weekend was booked due to vintage trailer show down the road.

Stayed one night on our way to SD. Nice wide, level pull thru sites. Mosquitos were intense. Showers and bathrooms were clean.

We booked 3 nights here, read reviews and looked at the website. Upon arrival we find out that the dump station is down the road, not in this park. Wifi is non-existent. There is a steady stream of homeless people that use the showers, WiFi and electrical. Mind you the showers you have to pay ($1 for 4 minutes) and the sites are not cheap! And there is a homeless encampment just past the entrance to the park, between the liquor store and the entrance). The sites are fairly level and there is beach access (but don t use the path by the entrance!). We felt that there would be better security.....there isn t any at all. I went to the Ranger station to speak about the homeless folks wandering the grounds asking for money from the RV folks and the gal there laughed at me. She said she d have a ranger do a check of the area, but that didn t happen. We ve stayed at other campgrounds with more amenities, better security and less money. Very disappointed!

We stayed at Pismo State Beach Oceano Campground. We were somewhat lucky, no advanced reservations. Spaces are all pull thru and easy to access. The week we were there the park never filled up. Mix of long stay and one nighter. Good access to beach and to shopping. The only down side was the maintenance personnel were trimming and removing trees. Lots of noise and dust. Otherwise we would stay there again.

| Nice campground, Poor service

Booked online far in advance for $42/nt for 4 nights; arrived to find a confusing situation with our site, which was flooded. We were told that we can easily move to another site, but unfortunately we'd need to move every day, since they have no way of knowing about advanced reservations, until morning, each day! After speaking to the "floater" on duty, she solved the dilemma by placing us in #40, an emergency (or closed) site for our entire stay. That helped us relax and settle in. We enjoyed the clean restrooms, nature trails around the Lake and to the beach, which is the only beach in California that allows vehicles to drive alongside beachgoers. Tons of great restaurants and shops in the area. Late afternoon, the day before our departure, the "floater" on duty, came by to ask us to move our truck from the driveway next door, where we've parked the entire time and would be happy to move to a number of other empty sites surrounding us, if someone moved in, but he insisted that we either place 3 wheels on the pavement/1 on the grass or park outside of the Park on the streets, where you can NOT park overnight! They don't have overflow parking and our corner site was too small for our 34ft 5th wheel and our tow vehicle. L threatened ticket or tow if we didn't move! Luckily his supervisor, Ranger Kelly, got our message and she stopped by to help us fit, allowing us to move the picnic table and park 2 wheels on the pavement, 2 on the grass...win-win! Dump station at a private RV Resort down the street. We will not return, too much of a hassle!
