Poinsett St Pk is a very nice place to spend some time. The road in is narrow and looks bad but we were in a 32 foot coach and it was fine. The rest rooms are nice and clean as the grounds are too. Beautiful huge trees and nice camp spots.
We stayed two nights late in the season, November. A couple things to be aware of, first the road is narrow for big rigs like mine, 39 foot fifth wheel, but manageable. Once you’re in the park, the road to the campground is sand, but seemed firm enough, even in the rain when we arrived. This is a very wooded area so no satellite reception and no cable TV here either. And no Wi-Fi at the site, just at the park office. No cell phone reception for me on T-Mobile, so no internet via my hot spot either. There’s lots of room between sites though, in most cases. My site was fairly level and 30Amp with water hook-ups. We didn’t use the amenities here so I can’t comment there. But for me, because we’re full timers and like more contact with the outside World (Satellite, Internet, etc.) and the sites are all sand, it’s not what I’m looking for. Maybe for a family on vacation. So this place is not for me and won’t stay here again.
Stayed over Labor Day weekend. Park was almost filled with all the RV sites occupied and only four tent sites open. Campground has ample shower houses which were clean. All RV and tent sites were level and completely shaded. The entrance road into the park is narrow with multiple large trees immediately adjacent the pavement, so you will tend to drive towards the center of the street. The roadway surface is old, worn asphalt but no potholes. The roads in the campground itself are sandy dirt with occasional traces of gravel. But the dirt streets were firm even after a rain. We had no problems maneuvering our 32-foot class C motorhome along the streets and backing into the site. RV sites had water and 30 amp electrical hookups. Both the water pressure and power were adequate. There is one dump station at the campground exit. It has a hose for washing out your slinky but lacked a fitting for our black tank flush. Trash cans were located on one large rack near the dump station. There is a small lake with canoe, pedal boat and stand-up paddle board rentals. It has a small area roped off for swimming with no lifeguard. The park has quite a few hiking and biking trails. We were pleasantly surprised at how hilly some of the trails were given the park's location in central South Carolina. There is wifi available at the park office. We had Verizon cell phone service throughout the park.
Its a tight road going in for bigger rigs, we are 40' 5er, its doable. Be careful when booking we booked site 19 which said 42' but there was no way we were getting in it. they put us in Site 10 which is an awesome site, very shaded! Bathrooms were very clean. LOTS of hiking trails and bike riding trails, and a nice lake to walk around. I would stay again! Be advised closest supplies was over 25 miles away, bring what you need.
Stayed twice in May/June 2019, Great bike and hiking trails, close to the Palmetto Trail. Pretty lake for swimming, but no fish!
