Reviews for Ponderosa State Park

| A family favorite

We live a little over two hours from McCall and have been camping at Ponderosa State Park for over 20 years. This is an extremely well-kept park that now includes five camping loops and 163 serviced campsites. The original three (Aspen, Blackberry and Chokecherry) offer water and electricity with a dump station along with restrooms and showers. The two newest loops (Dogwood and Elderberry) offer sewer connections at every site and several paved pull through pads and a large shelter area in each loop. You'll find an area with bathrooms and community showers. The park is situated around Payette Lake and campers can easily walk from any site to the lake. Ponderosa is gorgeous and located close to McCall which is a beautiful Idaho town. You won't regret spending time there.

| Great Vacation Spot

We traveled with two other couples and had plenty of room for a 43' motorhome, a 35' 5th wheel and a pop up camper. Great spots with full utilities and facilities. Lots to see and do in the local area or a perfect place to just relax. We recommend this camp and will stay here again!

| Liked it, but one draw back

This is such a pretty camp! We hiked all day. If it were warmer, I'm sure my sons would have went swimming. A deer and her baby walked right through camp. The only draw back was that they charge $5 extra per night for our tow vehicle. So we ended up paying $35 a night. It was busy there in July and we got one of the last few spaces available on a weeknight. And their maps are very confusing.

Huge sites in the forest (don't expect sat reception). Full 50 amp hook ups. Across the street from the beach. Very, very nice.

| Very Nice Park in the Woods

We just returned from a 50 day RV trip (3400 miles) where we stayed in 16 different RV parks. (anywhere from 1 night to 6 nights). We are rating them in relation to each other. This is one of the most enjoyable places we stayed. Very quiet in the woods but on the shore of the lake. Park has a visitor center right on the lake with 5 acres of grass. McCall is a very nice tourist town with the best huckleberry ice cream (Alley Ice Cream Shop) that serves huge comes (1 scoop = 1 pint). There is a beautiful golf course next door. Sites are very large but not pull thru. Lots of space between you and your neighbors.
