| Great state park

This is a very nice State Park. the place is very clean and there is a whole lot to do in the park. nice playground for the kids. several hiking trails and a swimming beach. This place can be crowded at times. most of the campsites are very nice and spaced well.

Very clean and 24/7 gated access camp. While RV sites are not reserved by site, you can book either a 20' or 40' back in site, some with a water view of Lake Alatoona. The 40' pull throughs are non water view and near the gate. CATV and WIFI both work. Loyalty program lets you earn every 10 th night FREE. Seniors get a 20% break.

Goos state park to stay at outside of Atlanta. Only downside is that some spots are a bit tight.

Very nice state park. We had a back in space by the lake . (Great view ) Check-in procedure at the welcome center went very smooth , because of a friendly staff. Restrooms were also very clean. Nice playground. We enjoyed the trails . We definitely will be back to RED TOP ⛰

| Not for big rigs

I decided to spend one night here while on the way to CO. This is probably a great destination park with all the trails, water sports, etc. But as you will see, not good as a spot to get some sleep and keep moving. The road into the park has a bridge over a lake that is very narrow. You would think that by late on a Sunday afternoon, many people would have left. Not so. The place was humming. Driving or pulling a large RV over that bridge on a summer weekend requires nerves of steel. Signage is lacking, but I knew that I needed to check in at the visitors center. But there was nowhere to park the rig (30 camper + pickup). There is no RV lane for checking, only car parking spaces. I saw a sign out of the parking lot pointing toward the campground. I figured I d drop off the rig and circle back to check in. Well no. There s a gate that requires a passcode to enter and no one in sight to help. Back to the VC. Found a car spot near the entrance and pulled over, partially blocking the road! Inside was a mad house. No lines, just people standing around trying to get someone s attention. I could keep going but you get the idea. One question I have is regarding late arrivals. There was a sign on the VC that said they close at 5:00. With an electronic gate at the entrance to the campground, what do you do if you arrive after 5:00? I stayed in site 12 which is a pull through site with water and electric. A nice site in many ways. Slide opened into nothing but woods. But the picnic table and fire ring were on the slide (left) side of the camper, not the door side. It didn t matter to me, but it might be inconvenient for many people.
