Reviews for Rincon Parkway Campground

Camping is same as described below. Along highway 1 but very little noise at night. Cannot hear 101 surprisingly. The train is very close but not too often. You are practically on the ocean. Really nice.

Well let's start with we have tried a long time to get a place to stay, we found one in spot #2, we were not sure of parking rules so I asked the people in # 3 , let me tell you he was such a gentlemen to us and let us know what was right and what was wrong. Great people to park by. Also in # 1 spot, John was able to help us get on line to pay for our one night there. Great bunch of people we have met that night real helpful and kind, hope to see you all again, The Knight. PS we will return again.

Rincon Parkway (RP) is along the old California Hwy 1. You can access RP from Hwy 101 via State Beaches offramp if you're north bound or Cliffhouse. Southbound can only access via Cliffhouse. The State Beaches offramp will merge onto Hwy 1 while the Cliffhouse offramp you will turn right at the ramp stop sign There are 117 camp spaces along the ocean front, all facing south. The spaces are 40' long and all your vehicles must fit inside your space. The rangers are very fussy about this, but it's fair to everone. The daily rate as of 1/14 is $28/day. There are no amenities but who cares, you're right on the water. There is access to the beach at several campsites and people are ok with you coming through their site, but a "may I please...." and "thank you" is the best way to handle it. If you do need water or to dump there is Ventura RV Park a few miles away and they charge to dump and fill.

Can't beat the view being right on the ocean's edge. Campground consists of just parking along CA-1. No hook ups and no services. Expect noise from CA-1, the railroad tracks and US-101. Electronic payment accepted. Before making any payment, park in the spot you want. No reservations or saving spots. Payment for 24 hours starts from time of arrival. Sites are first come first serve.

If there were 10 stars I would give 10 stars. This was my first vacation in 7 years....all I wanted to do was sit on a beach! We drove to Rincon, knowing that it is first-come, first-serve and Thankfully! WE GOT LUCKY! We arrived early in the morning, around 6AM...there were a couple openings...Never had a better vacation...almost worth the 7 year wait! Again, it is first-come, first-serve...lots of fun watching when a spot opens and how long it takes for someone to take it. What a view, great beach and super quiet....I never heard the freeway and only heard the Amtrak train during the day...not a lot of kids, plenty of pets...it was amazing!

We make sure to get to Rincon regularly. It's such a fantastic place to relax, watch the waves (and occasionally some whales or dolphins) and realize how lucky we are. This is our first year in the big coach, and fitting our 40' class A + toad was tricky. The sites are listed as 15' x 46', but we are end to end, no way we're tucking the toad in front or back. We ended up angling in and tucking the car under the bedroom slide. At $30 a night it's one of the most expensive places we stay, especially considering there are no utilities, not even a dump station. Still worth it! The new reservation system is tricky. You can still get walk up sites, but can't be sure that someone else isn't going to come in with a reservation for that site tomorrow. If I could book my walk up site for more than 1 night at a time it would make picking my spot much easier. And since we've only ever been here in the "winter" (currently 71 deg and sunny) we've never had to fight for a site like some of the other reviewers. All the stars, would def recommend!!

| View alone is worth hundreds of dollars per night.
