The campgrounds itself is simple but nice. The sites are level but gravel, not concrete. The majority are shaded by large trees, and some are also waterfront on the Mississippi backwater slough. There are also air conditioned sleeping cabins available for rent. The facility is well maintained. What makes this County-run facility fantastic is the large Ecology center which houses the camp office. It has a nice snack bar and dining area, banquet room, dozens of stuffed animals and fish, a large aquarium with native fish, educational displays suitable for all ages, a large custom pontoon boat for guided tours, and boat rentals. A boat ramp is available for those with their own boats.
