Reviews for Salton Sea SRA / Mecca Beach

Good RV camp ground with four full hookup sites (#138 to 141). Level sites with picnic tables and fire pits. No wifi and Verizon has 2-3 bars. Bathrooms with showers for campers. Close to beach and birdwatching. Some highway noise but main train tracks are close by with hourly trains. Camped in a motorhome and would stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay in fact we only planed to stay 2 days then head to Joshua Tree National Park but we decided to stay another 2 days. We visited Joshua Tree to check out the campgrounds we are glad we stayed where we were. The Hosts were real nice and helpful. Bathrooms were very clean and whole campground was nice. The views were spectacular. Good base camp alot of places to check out nearby. We will be back.

Nice Base camp lots of places to check out. This time we hiked to the Batcaves which the trail is not well marked. But worth the hike not really dog friendly because of all the small cactus that can get in their paws. Then hiked Painted Canyon which is not far. Again the bathrooms were clean and we'll kept. Trains are close but did not bother us guess use to them.

Bathrooms were fairly dirty. No soap. The lake smelled a bit as well. Campgrounds were basically a parking lot and nobody was there. Camp host was super helpful and really kind. We enjoyed chatting with him. Not a horrible place but we wouldn t go back.

Nov is the best time of the year to visit. Still no smell unless you go down to the water. Bathrooms put Joshua Trees to shame. Was clean (old but clean) nice hike to the State park visitor center. The camp store does not have much but there firewood and ice is a lot cheaper than the AM PM up the road. We enjoyed our stay

Salton Sea has receded a considerable distance from the campground. The campground is a parking lot with spaces big enough to park an RV and Toad. Restrooms and showers are in bad shape, men's room was out of order, ladies room was available. Train traffic is pretty heavy, sometimes, one after another. Luckily, the horn blowing is down near the Headquarters campground. Mostly a lot of rumbling.
