Stayed in the Nutbush area of Kerr Lake SRA for 3 nights in 28ft MH. Easy access from I-85. On-line reservations were easy. A little early in season, and park office was closed when we arrived Sat afternoon, so not sure how to just do a drop-in. Locations were spacious, wooded, and well managed. Bathroom were heated, with nice showers, and clean. An easy 100 yards from the lake, will be definately be back this summer.for more camping and to try some bank fishing.

This campground probably has the most shade. That being said the sites are probably closest together of all the NC parks. The park itself is a little run down. There is only one decent bathroom the others are well, a little rough, and some doors don't lock so people just walk in on you. Not the best for umm concentrating on the job to be done there. The the one good one is so over used it stays dirty. I just went in a honey pot, at least I could have some privacy. Over all JC Cooper is tolerable. I do think the parks on the VA side of the lake are a lot nicer. Just saying.

We stayed here traveling home from Florida. It is a bit far off of 95 however is was worth the extra time. We would stay here again probably when it’s a bit warmer....

I have been traveling for a month in my RV and this has been my favorite place so far...... What an absolutely gorgeous place to camp! So cheap too!!! - Lots of spots right on the water. Large shady trees. Sites are far apart. Fire pit. Picnic table. Electric and water at site. Dump on the way out. There is a gas station just a mile down the road if you need anything. There was a bald eagle that stopped by every evening after catching his fish for the night .... Random things to mention, other campers mentioned that you should call the park to check the water level before booking. Many visited in the Spring when the lake flooded the campsites and on my stay, the water was very very low leaving 100 feet to the beach. Also, the sites seem very un-level, depending on where you are. If I came back, the BEST SITES with a view are: 54 (water on three sides!!!!! It is magic!!!!) And 40 and 39 are beautiful sites on the water. We camped at Kerr Lake SRA - Satterwhite Point/J. C. Cooper Campground in a Motorhome.

This place is no longer $20. It is $26 for nonelectric and $33 for electric. Small discount with senior pass. Beautiful and quiet for us midweek in May. Fresh water at site. Dump station has water to rinse your hose but no fresh water so fill up at your site.
