We were headed across "The Loneliest Road in America" on our way to Tahoe. As the name of the road suggests...there aren't exactly lots of options for RV camping...and finding a lush, well treed, fancy "Resort" is pretty much not happening. I rated Silver Sky Lodge in context with where it is and what was available. Due to mileage that day, Eureka was pretty much the best option to stop for the night. We decided to take a chance on Silver Sky Lodge despite it having few to no reviews. We were glad to find it. It is not a lot more than a large, open, gravel parking lot with a few sites, but the super friendly and helpful proud owner took this campground from mediocre to memorable. He is a plumber and A/C man during the day, so has the ability to do his own maintenance and repairs, which is clear because the hookups are in tip top shape. It's obvious he takes pride in his RV Park. It is right off the highway, but there wasn't much traffic and neither of us noticed highway noise. We were pulling a tow vehicle and didn't want to unhook (42' overall), which was a positive. He guided us into our site (#2) to ensure we could easily reach the utilities...which I didn't think I needed, but because our spot was on the end...it looked shorter than it actually was, and I would have not pulled forward enough thinking I would be sticking out. We had full hookups, a gravel site (fairly un-level, so we used leveling blocks) and a little patch of artificial turf, that our 2 dogs appreciated. No shade trees. We paid $20 cash and left it in an envelope through a slot in the door. He only accepts cash and checks. We didn't use the shower facilities but the restroom was clean. He was doing some renovating when we were there. If you are looking for are looking for a resort, with pool, store, etc...you would be better served driving to Ely NV or Carson City NV, but if you want a nice, safe place to spend the night that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I recommend Silver Sky Lodge RV Park.

| Nice for the night.

The place is a mix of short term and long term residents. Quite and peaceful. Clean private shower rooms. Several sites available when we got here. The owner is expanding the property so soon there should more sites. Cash or check only.
