Well, I so wanted to be able to recommend Slab City as a fine winter RV destination but, honestly, this place is a mess. Abandoned, burned out RVs, piles of trash, and tarps reminiscent of the saddest homeless camps are everywhere. Camping is free but this is not BLM property and there are no gov't services including road maintenance. That being said, it is a place worthy of examination, if only to satisfy your inner social scientist curiosity. There is a bar, a church, a library and a fine art "gallery" in Slab City. The place is huge (600+ acres I believe) and still room for lots more of ya!
