Sowell is a quiet it park with nice sites. Sites have plenty of space in between, The bathhouses are clean & well lite. Plenty of fishing and wildlife to keep you busy. Nice for families. I have included a map with the fees. THIS PARK IS RESERVATION ONLY! NO EXCEPTIONS. Reservation number 877-444-6777 or online recreation.gov

Clean, lots of room, clean showers and a pretty view. Another COE great place. Sites are paved and level with full hookup most places. We would stay here anytime.

This is a nice COE CG with very large sites and not crowded. There are even a few FHU sites which made life better. However, this CG is completely unattended which means that there is no security. It wasn't a problem but my wife brought it up. We noticed a couple of kids pulling into a picnic area with a 12 of beer for supper so that kind of took us aback. Also, the "NEW" COE process of not allowing/accepting drive up entries is problematic, again because it is unattended. I fear they will lose business because of this new policy. Our site that we had reserved over the phone was fine, except for the fire ant hill exactly where the RV steps would let you out. The site next door (empty of course) had the same problem. We finally found a site with FHU and no ants and then spent 45 minutes on the phone trying to coordinate all the hub-bub only to find out that the site we chose was already reserved for our final day, meaning we would need to vacate early. <sigh> OK, we can do that but all of this could have been handled more efficiently if there actually was someone here to look into things and fix them (i.e. fire ant hills) when discovered. More than anything it seems to me that the difficulties stem from the lack of on property oversite, which appears to be the work of COE management to reduce costs. We've found that the "reservations" folks are trying to be helpful but they are not familiar with every CG (who could be?) so when we ask about shade, FHU, etc they simply don't know. Not their fault but again, not helpful. We are finding that unless a person has personal knowledge of a COE CG it is becoming a shot in the dark for picking out a camp site. Sorry for the rant, overall, this is a nice campground and we enjoyed our stay, it's just that things could be better/easier, but probably not cheaper.
