Just returned from 8 days at St George Island campground. We loved it! Clean showers, shade at most sites, and very few people on beach. Sites have water, electric, picnic table and fire ring. Ice and firewood available at host site near shower house. Campground gated at night with campers given password for after hours access. (Nice feature as it keeps all others off East end of Island) enterprise will drop off and pick up car rental to campground if you push them but phone signal very week at campground. Car rental is at Apalachicola airport. If you're looking for laid back beach vacation, this is the place. No big crowds to deal with and no college kids ruining the beach fun.
Clean restrooms. Nice site with privacy (most of them). Friendly staff.very quite park, not many ppl at the beach, clean park, good for kayaks and paddle boards.. We will come back later this year for sure ..
We had 6 nights reserved and stayed less than 24 hours. Here is why: Mosquitoes out of control, only cell phone service available is Verizon and AT & T, I have T Mobile and no signal at all, so maybe I will switch carrier after that. The beach is about 700 yards from the camp and kayak launch is 2 miles away. 700 yards might not be a lot for younger people but when you are older with health issues and have to carry your beach gear, it's too much, unless you ride a bike or go by car or golf cart. Also, be aware, there is NO shade at all on the beach. The sand on the beach is very nice, water is murky, like everywhere else on the Gulf of Mexico and Park is very quiet and secluded.
