We stopped here for 1 night and wish we could have stayed longer. It is a beautiful campground with a nice lake and boat rentals. We did not partake since it was not the season but will be back. Good water pressure, clean bathrooms and friendly staff We had a pull thru stop on the lake. Just lovely

| Winter in the Summit

We decided to get away over Christmas, so we chose to go winter camping at Summit Lake State Park in New Castle Indiana. Of course the water and sewer dump were turned off, the shower restroom facilities were closed up tight, and we would be the sole campers in the park over Christmas we were determined to camp there. And camp there we did; as we filled up 12 gallon jugs of water, picked up some other refreshments to take with us, and put a thermal skirt around the bottom of the trailer (not cold weather ready) with a heat lamp to prevent toilet and waste tanks from freezing up. We chose a handicap concrete slab site that we could still see the lake, and had good ground for taking the dogs out to do their business. And it had a good overhead security light. Our Viking 17-BH travel trailer is equipped with, fresh, gray, and waste tanks, 30 AMP AC/DC service, shower, toilet and LP Range, Heat, and uses a Microwave and AC in Summer.. So we were able to camp very comfortably in 17-20 degree F weather. The State Park staff still monitors the park during the winter so we had someone check on us by drive by. We have camped here in the summer as well and it is really a nice place for older folks as well as families, all RV sites had Elect and Water, with picnic tables, and the restrooms and shower facilities were well maintained. We definitely would recommend this state park to anyone who likes to family camp or enjoys fishing

| Nice lake views; variety of sites

By user-5965248... on 2018-05-17. Stayed 2018-05-10 to 2018-05-11

Park has a nice mix of wooded and field sites. The women’s bathhouse has e shower stalls that are serviceable but aged. Water spigots at the sites serve several sites so you may need more than a 30 ft hose depending on where your hookup is located. Park entry fee is $9 PLUS the one-night camping fee of $34.24 comes to a total of $43.24 for one night. For the condition of the amenities this seems a bit steep. There are a couple of dump sites with washout hoses near the exit. There are activities on the weekends and 4 mapped trails of varying difficulty.
