We stayed here 2 days during rainy season. Older park which, while showing it's age a bit, was very quiet, relaxed, and had many friendly staff. Because we were here in rainy season and it is on the lake, about half the park was closed due to flooding. Very large rigs may not have great luck...no 50 amp is available and there are quite a few beautiful mature trees that hang a little low. We came to go fishing (excellent catfish spots) and to visit Canton, which is just a quick 30 minute drive. Perfect spot for both.
I picked the park thinking it would be nice to be by the water. Terrible,TERRIBLE experience. After 6 hrs on the road and driving out of my way to get to this park we were greeted by Thousands of 3 BLACK wasps. The gate attendant wasn t much help. Instructed to drive the park and pick a spot,,, with the wasps following, many spots we re shut off because of possible flooding. Overall park seemed dismal and not kept up. The wasps won,, we left with out a refund. Attendant said the wasps were common that we mustn t have been from Texas. I ll never prepay for a spot again.. I do not recommend this place. Terrible service terrible experience..
Check out our video tour of the campground! We had a lovely time at Lake Tawakoni RV Campground. We enjoyed their lodge and that there was free Wifi. The laundry is inexpensive. The one downside is that it is pretty far from grocery stores. The bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly and inviting. We really enjoyed the friendly campers and the size of the property. We were able to walk the dog around the property and it also enabled us to explore the park. We would stay here again.
