| Waterfront worth it

By user-5893654... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2017-08-04 to 2017-08-12

We have been camping here on and off for 15 years. The only thing that has changed is the helpfulness of the staff - they aren't. Registration is CASH OR CHECK ONLY. No credit cards, and the process is archaic, relying on mail-in deposits and a handwritten index card tracking system. The only reason we return is that they offer really the only true waterfront campsites on the island. Waking up to ponies grazing across the river is worth the annoyances.

| Armpit

The armpit of campgrounds. Dirty, rude, and over priced for what little they offer.

| One of my sons faves

By user-5862798... on 2017-10-23.

This is one of my 13 year old favorites. He can fish all day off the Pier and take a rest at the game room. Clean showers and bathrooms. Been going here for years. Time to start doing some maintenance and clean up the yearly areas

About

A Family Campground located on Chincoteague Island, Virginia, Tom's Cove overlooks Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge and Assateague Island National Seashore Park. We Offer Our Guests outdoor recreation at its very best. Whatever your camping pleasure, Tom's Cove is a favorite way of life for those fun-minded adventurers who enjoy saltwater fishing, boating or crabbing in the ocean and bays, beachcombing and hiking in the wildlife refuge...or just peaceful contentment where the sand whispers to the sea. We have much to offer the recreational camper. With our three fishing piers, boat ramp and marina, we are well equipped to handle all your fishing needs. While Dad is out fishing, the kids can spend their time in our clubhouse playing video games, pool, or just listening to the jukebox. Meanwhile, Mom can lounge away the day working on her tan on the deck of our large swimming pool. Campers and non-campers alike can enjoy our large country store stocked with souvenirs, gift items, t-shirts, fishing tackle and camping supplies. We also have a grocery section to fill most of your needs.
