Reviews for Vail Lake Resort

| Needs Work

There are a lot of pretty trees that provide shade in some spots. That's the only nice thing about this place. The roads are full of pot holes, everything is run down and looks like there are years deferred maintenance. We didn't use the pool so I can't comment on that. A sliver of the lake is visible from some spots but it's miles away. This resort has potential but needs a lot of work.

It is a okay park. But you have to get up on the hill around spot 50 or so to really enjoy it. All the other spot are straight dirt and now grass. I gave 3 stars because the lake is 3 miles away and you have to pay 10 dolllars a person to get in. Also you can't launch you boat unless you pay 100 dollars not including per person fee. Oh if you want to be a member for the lake it's 2200 dollars Crazy price for catch and release only.

| Website is misleading

By user-5909372... on 2017-10-23.

The lake is half empty and not usable because the greedy water district drained it into the underground aquifers. The nice huge rolling grass area that shows on their website is completely dead and the lake looks like a swamp since the water district won the law suit. Website is very misleading. The pool is far from campsites. The lake is a disgrace compared to what it used to be. The trees is all this place has going for it. Overpriced for what it is. Go to Lake Skinner for a better experience at half the cost with a nice lake and a rental boats. I haven't seen any upgrades to this place since they raised their prices. 2 stars because it's close to my house and the Halloween event is fun.

| It’s quiet and improving

Stayed here the last five nights. Reading other comments about the place are not all off. Best spaces are 1-81. Some grass sites. No permanent residents other than the people who work here. Gets busy for Halloween. All in all a fine place to stay if you’re passing through. I recommend.

| Getting Better

We've been coming here about 7 years now and if I was writing this a few years ago, I would have agreed with the last 5-7 reviews. The park has been under new management (through the water district) the last couple years now and slow changes have been in the works. We come here an average of 4 times a year and have seen something improved every time. The staff is friendly and inviting (now) unlike before. The pools are the same except who was the genius who thought dumping sand along the outskirts of the pool deck was a good idea? I was told by a worker that big changes are coming soon but couldn't elaborate on the plans yet. We usually stay in the Oaks in the summer and Upper Chardonnay in the colder months for sunshine and grass. Yes, the grass isn't the greatest at times but it's not that bad. The village looks great now, but I'd like to see some live bands play and allow us to bring in our own beverages. I know, it's a liability. But that's the reason we don't go down there. I'm not sure what they have going on with the old slides that used to be in service but again, projects are in the works they say. There are many other things that need TLC - the min golf, access road to lake (which they don't charge for anymore), basketball court, horseshoe pits, etc.. Overall, we love this place since the last owner left town. The cost per site doesn't sit well with what we get quite yet though. They do take Passport America and Good Sam and do help a little. Improvements are slow, but it's happening.
