I posted a picture of the first half of the campground. We stayed at #6 with 5th wheel. Great view and trail. There is a dump on the left ,past the bathrooms. There is also tent camping.

Overall what a great little public park. We had one of the last spots available due to arriving around 8 PM on a Friday night! The trailer spot we had did not have any hookups. However, most of the sites in the park had water and electric hookups. Our spot was a bit loud due to a party at the tent sites close to us and some loud walkers. But the park was clean and spacious. We really enjoyed the various hikes we were able to due the next day. We would definately stay here again!

They should all be this awesome! Also makes me sick RV parks charge so much money with nothing to offer in terms of things to see.

Pull throughs must be 100 ft long with water and 50a electric! Wonderful views and interesting hiking trail. A hidden gem!

Beautiful place to stay unless you are only into forest country. Don t miss exploring the lava beds. We found Carrizozo to be a great jumping off place for exploration. One day we did the three missions historical sites an hour to the northwest. Don t miss the Petroglyphs to the south and the pistachio place in Alamogordo. White Sands NP too. The White Sands Missile Range has a museum and outdoor displays. The Ruidoso area is good for a scenic drive including Sierra Blanca. Carlsbad caverns and Guadeloupe Mt. NP are pretty close to the southeast, as is Roswell for the flying saucer buffs.

This campground was most pleasant in March, but only a few of the sites were level and some sites are unusable for anything longer than a short tent trailer, if that. Bring a couple sets of leveling blocks to handle some of the more level sites. Summer is a very hot time and there is nothing to stop the wind except in the tent camping area. Having said this, the people are very friendly and helpful. The restrooms and showers were clean. The views and sunsets are inspiring. The walk through the lava bed will leave you amazed with Mother Nature.

Best ever. Hookup showers great view. For 9 dollars senior pass. Can't be beaten. Bearcat from Virginia high School Bristol VA.
