| Nice campsites

Camping in the redwood forest or in the upper meadows. Great place to relax or use as a base to explore the north coast. Kayak tours available on the beach explore the sea caves. Very hard to get reservations very popular.

| Lousy sites and horrible customer service

When I went to pay the lady in the booth, she kept looking in my car, and she finally asked, do you have a dog? I confirmed and she proceeded to give my money back and started to explain where I can go elsewhere with my dog because they are not allowed on any of the trails. I asked if there was a code of law that said I could not have a dog here, she explained that they did not want to be bothered with calls of dogs being left in cars, and again, refused to take my money. I repeated my question again, and she finally said, you are just going to come in anyways, aren't you. Wow, the attitude and utter lack of customer service in the Cal State Park system is ridiculous. And if you think this was just a "new" girl at the window, yes she was new, but her Supervisor was right there training her! So we got in and well the sites are tiny, no privacy and the beach is not too impressive. No soap or TP in the bathroom either... yuck. If you are an abalone diver or avid sea kayaker then it might be convenient, but I would skip it. Hopefully the Van Damme heirs can get the property back one day...
