Reviews for W.H. Lyon Fairground

| Okay for a one night stop

By user-5832789... on 2017-10-23.

We were having repairs done on our RV at the nearby Mercedes dealer and after two nights at Walmart needed water and a place to stay. The old couple the other reviewers complained about are only volunteer camp hosts and were very friendly to us. Most sites are just parking spots in a open grassy are with full hook-ups. We elected to take a shady spot under a large tree because of the high heat even though it did not have a sewer hookup and we had to use the dump station. This is a no frills park, but the location is very convenient to everything and it is far enough away from the highway that you are not bothered by traffic noise. We did not use their restrooms, but I would not expect much based on the rest of the park. Payment is by cash or check. No credit cards.

If I could give 1/2-star, I would. Hosts unfriendly - drove his golf cart right at our arriving vehicle with no wave, first words out of his mouth "how many nights?" Next morning they drove by - no "hello," "good morning" - zilch for hospitality. No restrooms in sight and hosts gave zero orientation upon arrival. Had to ask if there was wi-fi - lady host said it didn't really exist. I mentioned they are listed as having it and both hosts said some "older" listings must still show it. Is RV Parky (online) an "older" listing?

We decided to try here because of the close proximity to every place we wanted to go. The hosts are very nice and came out to the gate and took us to our spot. The train track is right behind the coach but it only runs to and from the quarry and only a couple of times a day. It goes real slow so you don't hear it and it doesn't run at night, basically it is a 8 to 5 train. Sites are level grass with full hookups. Easy to get to and get out of, plenty of space between units so you aren't all bunched up. The bath house is directly across from us and is a new construction but we didn't use it. We have stayed in other campgrounds in and around the city and feel this one is the best.

Basic amenities for $25. Worked great for over night stop to get license renewed. Host was familiar with process and document requirements. Easy in and out with lots of room. Would stay again.

An okay stop for convenience and full hookups. Exit 80 off of I-29 is better one to use.

| Great Value Very Quite

If your looking for a place to stay one or two days for a very reasonable price ($30 tax included) this is it. If it was full it would be tight but I understand they seldom fills up except during the fair. Level FHU sites and satellite is not a problem. New restrooms and showers however didn't use them. Camp host could not be more friendly and helpful. Stayed in a 34' motorhome. Would stay again.

We wanted a simple no hassle place to stay for a couple nights. Full hookup pull thru with 50 amp for $30. Not to bad compared to what else is around, plus close to downtown and errands we needed to run.

When arriving go past the dirt road entry, and turn in on payment. Nothing fancy but fine for a few nights. The camp host are an older couple, they were very nice to us, we had an electrical issue in the first spot, they moved us to a different spot and were very patient while we unhooked and raised Jack's.
