Washington Park Campground

My family has visited this park year-round for 15 years and it is still a new experience every time. The park is in old-growth evergreens that keep things cool in the summer and mostly dry in the rainy winter. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table, the primitive sites are level and mostly sheltered. The hookup sites are generally level, with water and power, which is limited to 20 and 30 amp. Larger rigs will fit, but watch your overhead, and many sites will be inaccessible due to trees and a few tight turns. The manager is a bit salty but the staff are great! Cell coverage is spotty and there is no wifi nor tv signal that I am aware of, so you can focus on hooking the cliff trails or beach picnicking or saltwater fishing or boat charts or whale watching, so much in such a small corner of Washington. Thre park is also near the ferry terminal so you can day trip to Friday harbor or a little further. There is also a boat launch in the park with overnight parking for tow vehicles. I'd give it 5 stars except the is no 50 amp, only 1 dump station rather than at the sites, propensity for people to walk through occupied sites, and infrequent patrols by park staff and none by police considering the remote location.
