Reviews for Watkins Woolen Mill State Park

| Typical state park

Typical fare for a state park. Lots of families with kids running around, but that didn't bother us. First time using the regular campground. Have camped here many times, but always in the special use area with the boys scouts. All campsites have a picnic table and fire ring. Some but not many have concrete pads. Some even have water, don't know if any have sewer hook ups or not. There is a sewer dump station on the way out of the park. Ours was hard packed gravel and VERY unlevel. Took 3 layers of Lego blocks to level out the trailer. First time I've had to use that many. But made it work. Only had 20 and 30 amp electricity at our site but some have 50 amp. Lot's and lots of trees, so plenty of shade. Nice to have but may pose a problem for those wishing to use a satellite dish. Antenna TV worked fine. The park does have free Wi-Fi but doesn't work very good or have very good range. Didn't personally use the restrooms or showers but our kids and grandkids did and said they were fine. The park has a lake with a paved trail around it and a swimming beach within walking distance but not really close. Pretty good jog away. All in all a pretty good place to stay. Stayed here in a travel trailer.

| Great Park!

Great park just far enough outside of KC you feel isolated from the hussle and bussle but close enough to pop in and out of town for any day trips. It would be nice to have sites with water or sewer but this is typical of MO state parks. Wish they left the shower house open year round for those that like to camp in the off season.

Very wooded park, very quiet. As others have mentioned, many of the sites are very hard to level. I had to use all the boards and leveling blocks I had to get close enough to level. Bathrooms/shower facilities were fairly new and very clean/well maintained. Warning - there are trees there that drop some type of nut (as large as a walnut) which hit the top of the motorhome, some very loudly.

We camped here for the first time in many years. Nice area all sites are pretty level. Gravel Packed. The shower houses have been redone since our last trip, We really liked that there all separate and the doors that lock behind you. And have plenty of room. There is a Washer & Dryer available to do your Laundry if needed. Also all camp sites have a fire ring and a Picnic table on a concrete pad. There is a small play Ground for kids everything is nicely kept. Our Grand kids had a lot of fun. And there is a small lake and a bike path that goes around the lake. The only knock we had was the amount of dogs barking no problem with dogs just don't want to hear them bark off and on all day. We asked the camp host about this and she told us dogs will be dogs and walked off. And yes we like pets we have several. Firewood is sold.

Nice park with a lot of smaller trees. Pretty layout for a smaller lake. Relatively quiet. Super nice campsite hosts. Individual shower rooms and typical restrooms.
