| Horrible park experience

By user-5829575... on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2015-06-25 to 2015-07-01

Poland NY. I would like to warn you about West Canada Creek Campsites, Poland NY. Never stay here. Very undesirable Park on many levels! This is my first bad review in two years of full timing. Muddy, rutted out dirt roads with unkempt, muddy sites is just the beginning. It was raining a little, but some gravel on the roads and sites would help a lot. We had to use low 4 wheel drive to get out of site! No easy access to the river or places to enjoy it. After booking a “pricey” week we arrived and paid only to be told we we would have to pack up and change sites for the last night of our stay as they had double booked. This shows she either has no understanding of what it takes to pack and move or my guess she really does not care about anything except money. To top it off they said roads in park are so tight that we would have to go outside the park to turn around somewhere and come back in to park for one night. We also told them we had a large rig with 50 watt when we booked. Upon arrival found they put us in a 30 amp. OK we can adapt! Owner was friendly, but his wife who booked and checked us in was very rude and unhelpful. Her attitude was, as she said, “if you don’t like it there is a KOA down the road.’” Will take her advice in the future! Other employees were very friendly and helpful. WiFi very poor, it took almost a half hour to download email. No phone access at all (AT&T) even with our Wilson and Ranger. I know that this is not their fault, but we had asked when booking and were told there was good WiFi and phone access. We always ask about phone service because we tether to our phone as we work online and do not want to hog park’s WiFi. First night there was a loud party going on until after midnight. The rest of the time there were no parties, but lots of traffic noise from a nearby road and barking dogs. There is also a bridge being replaced at the edge of the park and construction noise was really loud. Not sure how long it will be going on, but it is very annoying to wake up to pile drivers at 7 am. They should have told us about this when we booked. The day before we left our cat got out and the owner’s wife was extremely rude even though she could see I had caught my cat and she was inside. She could see that we had a leash at the door and I explained that they were always on leashes except for the time the door did not latch and it would not happen again. She said we weren’t welcome to come back if it happened again in “her” park. I assured her it won’t be a problem, and she need not worry because we would never be back. Really mean spirited lady that needs customer service training or not have customer contact. There are better ways to deal with a problem rather than make guests feel unwelcome or humiliated. Obviously we packed up and left. We did not go full time to be treated like second class guests at a poorly run park. In over two years of full time RVing this is only the second time we have been made to feel “unwelcome” in a park and left early. This is the only time I have left a neg. posting, but just can’t let it go this time. Overheard another camper commenting on how rude they were so I guess it wasn’t just me! A couple of things can be worked around but we found no redeeming qualities with this horrible park.

| Wonderful, Friendly, Family Campground

By anonymous-user on 2017-10-23. Stayed 2016-08-12 to 2016-08-21

Our family stayed here a little over a week. What a beautiful campground with everything you need; 50 amp, playground for the kids with lots of activities on the weekends. We were able to rent tubes here and enjoy the river. Best part is they even shuttle you up the river and you float back to the campground. Owners Mike and Sandy are very hands on and were very friendly and always saying hello and asking how our day was. Very impressive considering you hardly ever see the owners in campgrounds. We have already booked more time this year and next. Don't miss this one!
