My husband and I stayed here for a week the first week of August 2015. We wanted to enjoy all that Columbia, SC had to offer before we saw our son complete Boot Camp. The only negative is that it's 8 miles from the main highway and Ft. Jackson's Gate 5 limited operational hours. We will stay here again, when we return to the area.
Wife and I are both veterans who made reservations for 7 nights but left after 3. Paid for full hook- up but had electrical problems from day one and finally lost all electric. Reported the outage in the morning and expected maintenance to at least look at it or a manager to check on the situation. Nothing. They have 2 different maps instead of replacing the original after renovations that have obviously been done for quite some time. It is a nice peaceful place though.
(Note: DoD ID required). Our second stop at Weston Lake and we will definitely return. Nice Rec Area with plenty of woods and common areas. CG is well laid out with lots of space and grass between sites. Sites are very level concrete pads with large patio area, each with picnic table, BBQ and fire ring. FHUs are modern and function well. No wifi but good Verizon coverage (4 bars) Numerous OTA channels. Check in at the rec area office was smooth, staff friendly and professional. Bathhouse a bit dated lacking ventilation but clean and functional. Several sites saw trash accumulation in the fire rings.
