Reviews for Whispering Firs

I generally do not write reviews when I receive bad service or have a negative experience but this was so over the top that I felt the responsibility to warn the public. I'm not trying to boycott the business, but rather stating the facts (as I would take a polygraph to prove my complaint is not slanderous). I begin the the review to say we received the remodeled unit and although it was small it was clean and comfortable. After moving in for an extended stay it was made clear to Don, the innkeeper via verbal agreement with my husband, that we wanted to continue an extended stay over thanksgiving so we would be secure over the holiday. We were then told a week before thanksgiving by his wife who was not present while the arrangements were made with Don,that our stay could not extended, because she had rented it out from out from underneath of us. She explained that it was her investment and decision, which was final, and that Don had no authority. (The last time I checked Washington is a community property state in which married couples are equally held responsible in business. When we we explained that we would be extremely disenfranchised over the holiday by her decision, and were wondering what on earth we could have done to cause such an extreme action, she said even though we were good tenants, it was just "business", even though they had our credit card as a room hold. She had never asked prior if we were giving up the room. She further insisted that it was her decision was final leaving us in complete shock. the person taking our room was only going to be staying for two days when we were in an extended stay agreement after paying them $950.00, therefore showing good faith. She advised us to to come back after thanksgiving was over which was impossible to find any thing short term over the holiday and we ended up in great imposition. As she was instructing us of her override, the look on her husbands face was one of confusion and it was clear that he had made an arrangement with my husband but was emancipated by her sudden override saying she needed the room to "make money" over thanksgiving even though we had not relinquished to the room or had done anything to be refused business...So we conclude that the confusion was personal on her part. In the real world that is called an unprofessional deal breaker. So please make sure if you stay there that you make arrangements in writing with Don's wife so she will be held responsible for her actions and your rental will be secure. Also, to add insult to injury, she entered our room early in the morning prior to move out time without notice which clearly breaks transient/innkeeper laws in Washington state. The only "hospitality" she showed during the whole stay was a forced smile upon departure and I'm sure it was an attempt to to appease us after her unprofessional behavior. Happy Thanksgiving!
