Reviews for Wilmington KOA

| Not a great experience

We had site 25 and went out for a couple hours. Came back to find a thunderstorm had gone thru and our campsite was flooded. We couldn't get to our trailer!! Assistant manager didn't apologize instead just said "that sometimes happens". We moved to another site. Poor customer service. We won't be staying at any KOA

| Wifi no-go

The good: very level sites, very friendly staff, and Uber picks up right at your site. The bad: the wifi. If I had to stay more than one night I probably wouldn't stay here because the wifi is impossible to connect to. You have to give your personal information to a third party and - even then - I never got connected. I called technical support and they were very helpful but it's just not worth the hassle. Maybe that's the game plan.

| Best Campground

To us it was the best campground during our RV-trip. We enjoyed BBQ with the Weber grill and the nearby fireplace. The pool was in a great condition - as were all facilities. The staff was super friendly and we wished we could have stayed longer.

| Enjoyed our stay

We were parked in a pull through right across from the pet run area which was excellent for our little Scottie. The pull through was plenty long enough and all hook ups worked fine including an excellent wi-fi but we were close to the antennae. This was a very nice base for touring around Wilmington and Southport. The campground was neat and well tended. I would highly recommend.

| Pricey like most KOAs but almost worth it

We generally steer clear of KOAs but when it’s the only game in town there is no choice. We were pleasantly surprised despite the typical high price tag. The staff is among the best of any campground we’ve stayed. They are very friendly and yet professional. You leave your trash by your site, and someone dutifully comes along and picks it up. The only issue was that the squirrels were very curious and would pick apart the trash if it wasn’t picked up quickly. There is fair spacing between sites but not all are easy to get in/out for big rigs due to trees and other obstacles. We barely fit with our 45 footer and had to park the toad sideways. When we left, we had to back out of our pull thru site and hook up the car in one of the interior roads. The site was fairly level requiring mostly side to side adjustments. The premium sites appear best for larger rigs. The interior roads and sites are the dreaded crushed white rock base. Your vehicles and your feet will attract the chalky stuff. I will never understand (except for cost I assume) why any campground would use this stuff. There is some noise from the very busy Market Street – more or less depending on your site location. The WII FI actually worked (gasp), and worked decently enough. We couldn’t use our satellite due to trees; however, they have cable. Verizon coverage was 4g 2 bars. We would stay again due to close proximity to family, the beaches, and downtown Wilmington.

| Pricey but nicest in area

By user-5801025... on 2018-07-06.

The premium lots had patios, grills and furniture....we had a standard lot. They were level, FHU, nicely spaced. Great dog yard with exercise equipment. Wonderful restrooms..with handicapped seating. If we were in this area again...we would stay here again.

| They don't have a clue

By user-5007862... on 2019-08-09.

Called up looking for a space, was told they have some but I had to email them for availability and pricing. Never got a response back. Called back two days later to find out and was told that they have no spaces available until next year and they didn't have any available when I called the first time. They didn't believe I called the first time or that I even emailed them. They're clueless.....good luck getting the truth.

| A Great KOA

Stayed here for two weeks in late March. Very nice park, well maintained and very well managed. Nice patios on many of the level gravel sites with patio chairs and a table, bbq, fire pit and patio light. Reasonably sized Kamp K9. Well stocked store. Nice laundry room, clean washrooms. Garbage pickup every morning. Good tent camping area. Lots of friendly campers. A short drive to the beaches and fishing pier, or downtown Wilmington. Good shopping nearby. A very nice base of operations for touring, or just an overnight. Well run, great staff. Worth a visit.
